An Introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Day courses start at 10:00am and run until approximately 4:00pm

• The user interface - This is what you see when you load the program. It is where all the tools and palettes can be seen. We will take a detailed look at all the Menus, the Options Bar, Toolbox and Palettes. We will explain the use of the Workspace and how to customise it and save it for future use

• Adobe Bridge - This is Adobe's File Manager program for Photoshop and other associated programs. It is much more than a file browser though and is the place to go to organise all your photos when using Photoshop. We will explain the ins and outs of the user interface, show how to customise the views and how to open files using the Bridge. We will also explain some of the other features of Bridge that you will find interesting.

• Using Photoshop itself - We will spend the bulk of our time actually using the program edit photos, some of the topics that will be covered include:

• Resolution and Image Size

• Straightening and Cropping

• Automatic Adjustments

• Manual Adjustments

• Removing Colour Casts

• Dodge Tool

• Burn Tool

• Erase Tool

• Unsharp Mask Filter

• Comparing Automatic & Manual Techniques

• Clone Tool

• Spot Healing Brush

• Making Selections

• Magic Wand tool

• Marquee Tool

• Lasso Tool

• Magnetic Lasso Tool

• Rotating Selections

• A brief introduction to Layers

And more as time permits
